Booking and approving leave
Leave in Officium HR follows your own Holiday Policy: your holiday year, allowances, bank holiday rules and leave types. Part-time staff and mid-year starters get their allowance worked out pro rata automatically.
Requesting leave (staff)
- Open Leave & absence and press Request leave.
- Choose the type: annual leave, take TOIL, claim TOIL, sickness, medical appointment or unpaid leave (or your own types).
- Enter the start date and number of days, then press Send request.
The request goes to the person who approves leave for that employee. You can see your balance (entitlement, carried in, bank holidays, taken, booked and remaining) on the same page.

Approving leave (managers and HR)
Requests waiting for you appear on your home page under Waiting for your approval, and in the requests list on Leave & absence. Press Approve and the employee is told and their balance updates.
Managers only see the people who report to them. HR sees everyone.

Seeing who’s off
The home page shows Who’s in today, with a Today / Month switch for a calendar view. It only ever shows that someone is off, never why: holidays, appointments and sickness all look the same. UK bank holidays are marked.
Sickness
Sickness is recorded as days, alongside the sick pay each person has left under your Sickness Absence Policy. Only the people who need to see sickness details can.
